MAUK Visit to Dalradian Gold in Co Tyrone

Dalradian Gold hosted a fascinating visit to their Curraghinalt gold, silver and copper project in County Tyrone at the end of January 2026.  Andrew Fulton and David Payne attended from MAUK to learn more about the project, its multiple benefits and the challenges it faces as the public inquiry re-opens later this year.

The substantial investment already being made and which will follow permitting will bring  significant economic benefits, and secure indigenous UK supply of gold, silver, and copper plus a range of critical and growth minerals, essential for industry.  The project design is sensitive to its location and mitigates negative environmental impacts while maximising the opportunities for enhancement.

The project ticks all the right boxes and we hope that the planning process, already delayed, will now proceed quickly and permission will be granted without delay.  This is doubly-important in sending the right message to international investors that the UK is ‘open for business’ for minerals.

Kate Thornton (ABMEC) and Aoife Brady (Research Ireland Centre for Applied Geosciences) also accompanied us on the visit, while we also met with Sean Finlay (Geoscience Ireland) and Gordon Best (Mineral Products Association Northern Ireland) at the Dalradian offices to discuss issues including regulation, planning, community engagement and the economy.

Many thanks to our generous hosts Brian Kelly (CEO), Eric Tremblay (COO), Anthony Moran (Health & Safety/Mine Manager), Peter McKenna (Head of Engagement & Community Affairs), Ciaran McCreanor (Community Organiser) and Aimee McGowan (Administrator).
